Khalistan Calling newsletter dated February 05, 2003

The three million strong diaspora Sikhs, unlike their 21 million compatriots captive in India, are free and prosperous and they are determined - as they believe it is their destiny and pray for it every day; Raj Karayga Khalsa; Sikhs will rule - to create a sovereign, democratic, egalitarian Sikh buffer state of KHALISTAN in South Asia, stretching from the Jumna river on the East, to the Pakistan border on the West, China on the Northeast and Kashmir on the North, playing its God-given role of a granary for countries of Central Asia and acting as a 'bridge of prosperity' between Central and South Asia.

Washington DC: February 05, 2003: Only some people are aware that this year will be the 500th anniversary of the 1503 A. D. visit of Guru Nanak Sahib, the founder of our Sikh religion, to Kohima, a small town currently the administrative capitol of the much reduced state of Indian occupied Nagaland - future name The Christian Republic of Nagalim. Many of our readers have suggested that Sikhs ought to commemorate the 500th anniversary of that epic journey of Guru Nanak Sahib to Nagaland this year as a defiant gesture of support and solidarity for our Christian brothers/sisters and fellow braves - the Naga people - whose half century long struggle for self-determination and recognition of the buffer state of Nagalim has earned the admiration of the world in general and the Sikh nation in particular which too is struggling for a democratic Buffer state of Khalistan.

Predominantly Christian Nagaland (area a little over over 73, 000 sq. miles - in comparison Sikh Punjab is 31, 200 Sq. Miles - under British rule but now reduced to 10, 000 square miles by the crafty Machiavellian Brahmin rulers in New Delhi; population about a million survivors after numerous pogroms carried out by the brutal Indian Army of Occupation; literacy rate over 80% - highest in South Asia - thanks to Christian missionaries now all expelled by the Neo-Nazi Indian government) is strategically located in North Eastern India bordering Myanmar and China and is situated a few miles from Bangladesh as the crow flies.

The self-governing Nagas (who lived for two centuries in their beautiful autonomous hilly and forested Homeland without any interference from the Briitish Colonial administration in Guhati, Assam, a la the Pathan tribes of Pakistan's North West Frontier Province) declared their independence under Dr. Phizo, on August 14, 1947, the same day that Pakistan raised its flag in Karachi and Dacca when Imperial Britain quit South Asia after World War 11. Despite verbal assurances of understanding and accomodation given to Nagaland's founding father Dr. Phizo (very similar to the assurances given to the Sikh leadership in 1947 about 'tasting the glow of freedom', etc., etc.,) by India's crafty founding father Mr. Gandhi, the Indian government under Pundit Nehru responded with force, as was its wont. After subdueing Junagadh state in 1947, which had acceeded to Pakistan, and the independent kingdom of Hyderabad in 1948, the Indian army marched into independent Nagaland, in the early 1950's, which resulted in Naga resistance and insurgency which continues to this day.

The Nagas fought back after the Indian Army of Occupation expelled all the Christian missionaries and teachers from land-locked Nagaland and started a systematic scorched earth policy of murder, rape and arson to break the Naga political will and desire for independence. To the eternal credit of the Naga people, they never gave in. Their current leadership - the legendry Dr. Phizo is dead - is fortunately headed by two very able men, Messrs Isak Chisi Swu and Dr. Thuiangaleng Muivah, of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) who visited New Delhi last month under a white flag of truce (as they have a price on their head) have continued their freedom struggle on the home ground and from abroad - Netherlands, UK, Thailand and Switzerland.

Following last week's Khalistan Calling, dated Jan29, 2003, headlined, "In Support of a Sovereign Buffer State of Nagaland - Diaspora Sikhs Urge Worldwide Church Support for Naga Cause", (> http://www.khalistan-affairs.org/Main/K_Calling/kc01292003.htm <) numerous Sikh readers have asked that this newsletter, and the newspapers and institutions where it is published and circulated, ought to demonstrate to the world, and to the beleaguered Nagas, the deep respect, empathy and support the Naga's just cause, and struggle for independence, enjoys in the 24 million strong Sikh nation particularly among the three million FREE, resourceful Sikhs living outside India. A vast majority of these FREE Sikhs see a parallel in the Naga Freedom struggle as they are die-hard supporters of the ordained democratic Buffer State of Khalistan which will extend Westwards from the Jumna river to the Pakistan border and Northwards to the Kashmir and Chinese borders.

Someone has suggested, and we like the idea, that we Sikhs ought to commemorate the 500th anniversary of Guru Nanak Sahib's epic 1503 A. D journey to Nagaland. The celebration would be a Sikh salute to fellow Naga braves and to their cause of a democratic Nagalim Christian independent buffer state. The presence of invited representatives of the Baptist and Churches of other denominations, along with FREE Nagas living abroad, in the celebration commemorating the epic journey to Nagaland would enhance the Nagalim as well as the Khalistan causes. For decades, till his death, the legendary Naga leader Dr. Phizo used to regularly attend Sikh functions, protests and celebrations in London and other towns of England and was among the few who stood by our side when the Indian army, under orders of that witch, Indira Gandhi, attacked and destroyed the Akal Takht Sahib, the Sikh religion's sanctum sanctorum, inside the Durbar Sahib ('Golden temple') complex in Amritsar in June 1984. We would like to hear from our readers about the above suggestion. In the meantime a Sikh Heritage Calendar showing Guru Nanak Sahib's epic 1503 A. D. journey to Nagaland, and other travels by land and sea from 1500 A. D. to 1521 A. D., has been printed by Guru Graphics in Canada - Telephone No. 514-696-6515.

During our initial contacts with the Nagas we have been pleasently surprised, by the sophisticated organization and visionary thinking of the Nagas. Consider, for instance, the following passages from the manifesto of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim dealing with what it sees as the fundamental contradictions between `Indians' and the `Nagas'. Adopted on January 31, 1980, the founding day of the NSCN, (National Socialist Council of Nagaland) and revised in November 1993, the document constitutes the most explicit _expression of Naga ideology. It reads, "The involuntary influx of Indian nationals from the over-populated India into our country has set all Nagalim under constant threat of eventual submersion. In this connection, it may be recalled that before the year 1947, there was not a single Indian in Nagalim. It is now with more than two hundred thousand Indians... Although as a doctrine Hinduism is not a recruiting force, it is not to be easily dismissed, since it is backed by a Hindu government. The forces of Hinduism, viz., the numberless Indian troops, the retail and wholesale dealers, the teachers and the instructors, the intelligent, the prophets of non-violence, the gamblers and the snake-charmers, Hindi songs and Hindi films, the rosogula makers and the Gita are all arrayed for the mission of supplanting the Christian God, the Eternal God of the universe. The challenge is serious; there is no hiding, no pretension..."

The Naga manifesto goes on to say (we urge our Sikhs readers to please note that) that, "to join the Indian Union... is to allow ourselves to be drowned and perish in these waves of a dead doctrine. Whereas to defend the Nagalim's Independent Existence... is to assure ourselves safe from the doom of Hinduism. This is a simple logic. The failure of the Christian leaders to grasp the way the evil forces work and their failure to face them in the way they should, has indeed, placed Nagalim on a most serious trial. We are not only confronted with a war of physical force but also with more dangerous insidious war of assimilation." Hear! Hear!

Addressing those `Naga religious leaders' who believe in "the illusion that constitutional sanction of India would safeguard the freedom of their faith" , the manifesto says: "Preachers of all ranks are gone after the blessings and the `award' of Indian bosses. Spiritual uprightness is pushed into the background, pliable demagogues are out, dressed in "dhoti" with that queer red mark of foreign goddess in their broad foreheads, preaching reverence for cows - half absorbed, full devil! O Nagalim, whither goeth thou! Furthermore, the abundant amenities of life accorded to them are only sinister seeds of dissension being sown in the Naga family. Whatever it may be and wherever they may be, Nagas are Nagas and we shall prove the evil of this policy before long."

The manifesto further goes on to ridicule the Brahmin doubletalk which we Sikhs have also heard many a time. The manifesto states, " India's `Ahimsa', `All Roads Lead to Rome' and `No Religion has the monopoly of righteousness' are no doubt, masterpieces of philosophy, but the way to eternal life is not philosophy. The time has come for you and for us either to shrink back or prove through. God wants us right now to stand for him. Now is the time to hold firm our ground with Christ and face the stick and carrot policy.... O men of God, lead us to Saviour Christ for He alone is the Way, the Truth and the Life that leads to God, the Father. Our Saviour taught us saying, `and thou shalt be hated of all nations for My name's sake'. Truly it is time and we hold the Moses' question - Who is on the Lord's side? Come for Christ, come for the Nagalim's freedom... There is no third way, because `he who is not with me is against me and he who does not gather with me scatters'."

What comes through in the Naga manifesto as a whole is the passionate commitment to the realisation of an ideal Nagalim, the unqualified territorial nationalism anchored in land, the land of the Naga people transcending the boundaries of the present State of Nagaland. Central to this vision is the conviction that the Naga people, never defeated or conquered even by the British colonial rulers, are not `seeking independence' since they declared themselves independent a day before India attained its Independence, and Nagaland (Nagalim) has therefore been an `independent nation' since then. The real issue in Nagalim is to secure the removal of Indians, the armed forces as well as others, who constitute another colonial occupying force; and simultaneously also secure the integration of all Naga-inhabited areas, currently under the occupation of India and scattered among the mini Indian states of Nagaland, Manipur, Assam and the Union Territory of Arunchal Pradesh, thus finally realising the vision of a sovereign and independent, democratic buffer state of Nagalim.

We Sikhs have similar concerns of assimilation for our religion and our civilzation - and like the Nagas in Nagaland - are under attack in the Sikh Homeland of Punjab. Just as there can be no doubt that the Nagas will eventually unite and free their Homeland of Nagalim the Sikhs too, will free their homeland of Khalistan. Both democratic Buffer states - Khalistan on the West and Christian Nagalim on the East - will take their rightful place on the subcontinent along with other South Asian nations like Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives and Sikkim.
