Washington DC: April 03, 2002 : Over seventy one years ago, on 11 Dec. 1930, Mr. Winston Churchill, the great British statesman, while addressing The Indian Empire Society (at the Cannon Street Hotel in London, England) predicted that,"handing over power to the Hindus would reduce India to the deepest depth of Oriental tyranny and despotism", as the, "Hindus are a foul race protected by their pollution from the doom that is their due." Denouncing M.K. Gandhi, alias 'Mahatma' Gandhi, as 'a malevolent fanatic' Mr. Winston Churchill forecast "a ferocious ethnic war" after the British left South Asia. What fantastic prescience!
We salute the late Mr. Winston Churchill for his presciently vision for predicting so graphically seventy years ago what is happening in India today. We also commend Mr. Normon Rose, Professor of History at the Hebrew university in Jerusalem, Israel, for quoting the above Churchillian predictions in the masterpiece biography (ISBN 0-02-874-009-2: The Free Press New York) he has written of one of the twentieth century's greatest leaders, "Churchill The Unruly Giant".
The current rounds of violence in India, (the now forgotten - not by us Sikhs - 1984 pogroms when thousands of innocent Sikh men, women and children were murdered in Delhi and other cities of Northern India and the murderers went scot-free) and the hundreds of riots - since 1947 when the British colonials left South Asia - in which beleaguered Muslim and Christian minorities have been targetted, do more than reveal the fragility of the world's largest 'democracy' - India - and its socalled, much-trumpeted, secular culture. Please see the Khalistan Calling website at: <http://www.khalistan-affairs.org/main/k_calling/kc03132002.htm> These happenings reminds us once again of Mr. Winston Churchill's famous remark - which our readers should remember to always quote to any uppity and 'smelly' Hindu nationalist they may come across - that, "India is as much a country as the Equator". Churchills words of wisdom combined with the current events in India should strengthen every Sikh's resolve and steel his spine to cast the Brahmin's yoke and work for the creation of a caste-free democratic Sikh buffer state of Khalistan, East of the River Jumna and West of the Pakistan border.
The current state-sponsored killings, (in Gujrat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, UP and Haryana) in which over 2,000 - yes 2,000 - members of an unarmed timid minority have been murdered by Hindu mobs highlights the inability of the Indian 'democracy' to combat what is essentially a fascist onslaught. The morally repugnant, Swastika-worshipping, Brahmin-caste dominated, BJP 'Hindu-nationalistic combine', currently the ruling elite in some Indian states and in the centre in New Delhi, resembles the horrible Europeon fascists of the 1930's more than it does the contemporary Muslim fundamentalists who are currently under the Western power's 'magnifying glass' and cross hairs.
As every Sikh is aware, members of the core organization of Hindu nationalism the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh), founded in the 1920's - and enjoying the 'dishonour' of having murdered M. K. Gandhi alias 'Mahatama' Gandhi in cold blood, in 1948 - are given para military instruction, not religious, and wear Khaki (knickers) uniforms, reminiscent of Benito Mussolini's Italian Brownshirts and Hitler's German Stormtroopers. While the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), founded in the 1960's, is mainly concerned with religion (without prescribing - an impossible task given the diversity of Hindu religious practice with hundreds of millions of gods and hundreds of castes and sub-castes - how Hindus should worship or behave) is bent on characterizing monotheistic Christians/Muslims as alien and hostile and Sikhs as a wayward Hindu sect which needs to correct its religious conduct.
At this point in time, the morally repugnant Hindu nationalists are seeking to unify the upper caste 'Hindus' round a romantic nationalism, a la Adolph Hitler's superior Aryan Nazi theory of the 1930's & 40's, in which military prowess and demonizing the minorities (Jews, Gypsies, Serbs, Slavs, Poles et al.) played a central role. The Brahmin's focus on demonizing Muslims and Christians (and ridiculing the muscular Punjabi Sirdars) rather than promoting Hinduism is illustrated even by the dispute over Ayodhya, where extremist Hindu groups destroyed a 16th century Muslim mosque in 1992, sparking nationwide sectarian riots in which more than 2,000 people died. It is this Hindu fascist ideology, and the fact that a party (BJP) espousing it is at the head of the national government in New Delhi, that makes the recent anti-Muslim state-sponsored pogroms in Gujarat so much more disturbing and educative than earlier rounds of riots. India today resembles Germany of the 1920's and 30's where the beautiful British-built New Delhi has just been identified, according to the Times of India - by the world's largest human resources consultancy firm, M. Mercer - as one of the dirtiest cities in the same category as Yangon (Rangoon-Burma) and war-torne Sarajevo, Bosinia, whose 'prosperous' inhabitants, (according to the Economic Survey just tabled in the Delhi assembly) have an annual income of Rs. 36, 515 or a paltry US$. 745/ a year or two dollars US a day. Some prosperity! Some prosperous middle class! Some metropolis!
The Indian political establishments feeble and ambivalent response and paralysis in the political system during the current Gujarat killings, when even the police has often joined in the arson, rape, murder and looting (and the Indian prime minister Pundit Atal Bihari Vajpayee has given a 'wink and a nod' by not finding even a few hours to visit Gujarat todate) has emboldened Hindu extremist organizations and their local thugish apparatchiks all over India to press their agenda more forcefully. An example of the winds of change, nay fascist-winds now howling all over India, was visible to everybody yesterday (April 01) when the thugish Kashmir State president of the Shiv Sena - a BJP allied organization - one Kalki Maharaj, stormed into a Jammu hotel and physically assaulted, in the presence of the police and the press, a feeble and elderly APHC (All Party Hurriyat Conference) pro-Kashmir-independence leader, Abdul Ghani Lone, while the later was holding a press conference.
In a related development (and taking advantage of the change in international
attitude towards civil liberties, following the horrible September 11 terrorist
attacks) the BJP government in New Delhi mustered enough votes last week in a
joint session of the two houses of the Indian parliament to pass the draconian
POTA (Prevention of Terrorism Act) Law. This horrible law under which one is
presumed guilty unless proved innocent gives unlimited powers to the most
criminalized police in the world whose conduct during the recent Gujrat pogroms
has been widely reported in the international media. POTA should give us Sikhs
food for thought because we are next on the 'Hit List' of Mussolini's
illegitimate Hindu sons-in-law now strutting across India a la the Shiv Sena's
Kalki Maharaj who manhandled and publicly thrashed a Kashmiri leader for no

hundreds of Muslim places of worship (mosques) have been torched and vandalized
(and thousands of innocents murdered and raped) are a part of a broader tendency
among the Brahmin-caste dominated ruling elite in India toward eliminating civil
liberties and scapegoating cultural minorities in an aggressive effort to impose
a unified sense of nationhood on one of the world's most culturally diverse,
caste-ridden and squalidly societies which is reducing India - in which we Sikhs
have been captive since 1947 - to the 'deepest depths of tyranny and despotism',
to use the words of that great statesman Mr. Winston Churchill.
We Sikhs ought to wakeup and thwart this fascist Hindu agenda atleast in our
homeland of Sikh Punjab and expel any knicker-clad 'Kalki Maharajs' who may be
lurking in our midst with their communal fascist agenda. Even more than that, we
must exhibit Sikh generosity, gallantry and defiance as the humble Sikhs of Sri
Hargovindpur, in District Gurdaspur, have done last week. In a noble gesture,
and 'a finger in your eye' defiance. Baba Kirtan Singh and his Sikh Nihangs
there have rehabilitated a mosque ('Guru Kee Maeeet', built by the sixth Guru
Sahib) after 55 years and handed it over to the Muslim minority. The gesture is
a loud and clear, but defiant message, to the morally repugnant
Swastika-worshipping BJP fascists puppeteers like Advani & Co., in Delhi.
The above magnanimous Sikh gesture also tells the beleaguered Muslims and
Christians in India, that the muscular Sikhs are not asleep. The
Sikhs will stand by their monotheistic Christian and Muslim brothers and sisters
in their hour of need and will fight on their side in the ferocious ethnic
war, predicted by Mr. Winston Churchill, and planned by the polytheistic
BJP and others of that ilk.
