INDIA'S WATER WARS ON THE PUNJAB
Punjab's Quisling Chief minister Amrinder Singh betrays the Sikhs by opening refurbished Bikanir canal to carry Punjab's river water FREE OF CHARGE to non-riparian RajasthanWill Captain Amrinder Singh also stab Punjab in the back as is his wont, on the SYL canal issue currently sub judice in the prejudiced Indian Supreme Court?
Washington, D.C., Wednesday, August 06, 2003 - Occupied Sikh Punjab's Chief Minister, Captain Amrinder (Patiala) Singh, formally released river water, into the newly remodeled Bikanir canal, from the Banewala headworks in Ferozepur district, last wednesday. This huge canal will carry it, free of charge, to non-riparian Rajasthan, which Hindu-majority state has had the chutzpah to pass laws which ban Punjabi Sikh farmers from buying land in Rajasthan. Punjab's water is OK for Rajasthan, but Sikhs are nor wanted. Some gratitude! Some neighbour!A Punjab government press release issued last week in Ferozepur said that 71.86 km of the canal length had been remodelled on the basis of the work done by the Punjab irrigation department at a cost of Rs 72.07 crore during the current financial year. The lime concrete-lined 112 km portion of the canal falling in Punjab, with a design discharge of 2,720 cusecs and off-taking from Hussainiwala headworks in Ferozepur, was commissioned in 1928 after an agreement between Mahrajah Danga Singh of Bikanir and the British Colonial authorities on the basis of payment per cusec. It was built to irrigate parched desert land in the north-western parts of Rajasthan and in pre-partition days thousands of Sikh pioneer farmers contributed their blood toil and tears to 'green' Ganganagar district in Rajasthan state. Interestingly, today any and all Sikh farmers are forbidden to buy land under legislation passed in the 1980's by the Hindu-majority Rajasthan state assembly and Rajasthan does not pay a paisa (penny) to the Punjab. Some Hindu garatitude! Some Hindu chauvinism!
This Bikanir canal was not able to take its authorised discharge for the last several years because of the total collapse of its lining which was causing waterlogging in South Western Punjab. Now, the entire canal is being remodelled and re-lined under the Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Programme of the Central government, with a design discharge of 3,027 cusecs. The lime concrete-lined 112 Kilometer portion of the canal falling in Punjab, with a design discharge of 2,720 cusecs and off-taking from Hussainiwala headworks in Ferozepur, was commissioned in 1928. It was built to irrigate parched land in the north-western parts of Rajasthan.. The project cost for the ongoing work of the canal portion falling in Punjab is Rs 165.07 crores.
The water was formally released last wednesday into the newly-remodelled Bikaner canal.by Punjab Chief minister Amrinder Singh in the presence of his Rajasthan counterpart Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Rajasthan deputy chief minister Dr Kamla, Punjab irrigation minister Gurchet Singh Bhullar and local MP Santosh Chaudhary and dozens of other hangers on. Speaking on the occasion former Lok Sabha Speaker, Mr. Balram Jakhar, said that Captain Amrinder Singh would be remembered by Rajasthanis as the god , Indra, (god of rain) for completing the remodeling of the canal in time which obviouslt flattered the dim-witted Punjab Chief minister.
According to the Times of India the release of water to Rajasthan could not have come at a better time for Gehlot, who is gearing up for the state assembly elections to be held in a few months. Rajasthan Chief minister Gehlot, nor his Punjab counterpart Amrinder Singh, the 'stupid', said a word about the life and death issue of the SYL canal conspiracy (by means of which illegal waterway the bigoted Hindu judges in the Supreme court are trying to help another non-riparian, Hindu-majority state of Haryana. The SYL canal, if it is completed, will syphon thousands of cusecs of Sutlej river water, free of charge, to another non-riparian, Hindu-majority state of Haryana, which is so prejudiced against its Sikh minority that it has passed a Law declaring Tamil, not Punjabi, (yes Tamil) as the second language of the state; please click at the follwing link for details of the SYL canal conspiracy: www.khalistan-affairs.org/khalistancalling/2003/july30.aspx) Instead, Rajasthan Chief minister Gehlot is reported to have thanked the stupid Punjab Chief minister Captain Amrinder Singh for the timely completion of the remodelling work (nay treachory) of the Bikanir canal, and paid glowing tributes to the Punjab government, "for whole-heartedly supporting Rajasthan by providing wheat, fodder and other material to its drought-affected areas. The Congress government taking over in Punjab has proved a boon for Rajasthan, which will now be getting more water from the neighbouring state." The crafty Rajasthani Chief Minister having got what he wanted made no promises about the ban on Sikh farmers buying land in Rajasthan. Obviously he too, like us, has contempt for Captain Amrinder 'Patiala' Singh's intellect. Captain Amrinder Singh parried a question from the press on the SYL canal issue on the pretext that the matter was subjudice.
This thoughtless action of the alchoholic Punjab Chief minister Captain Amrinder Singh, (a scion of the treachorous Patiala family known throughout Sikh history for its treachory) to provide water FREE OF CHARGE to Rajasthan has proved that he he is not only a lush but an idiot as well who has neither vision nor understanding nor sympathy for Sikh national concerns. Why could he not have demanded payment for Punjab river water permissable under law? He like his forefathers is totally sold out to the rulers in Delhi be they British colonials or Maharratta freebooters or Brahmin caste-dominated Hindutva-fundamentalist BJP Neo-Nazis or monkeys. 'Subjudice' be damned, this man - Amrinder Singh - seems to have no empathy or sympathy for his 21 million compatriots captive in Indian occupied Punjab and it is quite possible that he will stab the Sikhs in the back on the SYL issue currently being heard by two Hindutva judges of the biased Supreme Court. They, (the two judges - one male, one female) it is generally believed are co-conspirators with the government of the Hindu-majority Haryana state in a brazen attemp to steal FREE of CHARGE Punjab's precious water resource. In a related development, which gives a 'looksee' at India's judiciary, the Bar Council of India, the apex body for lawyers and legal education in the country, has just released a list of 131 high court judges whose relatives were practising in the same courts where they were posted. Releasing the list to the media, BCI Vice-Chairman Adish C. Aggrawala said allowing their relatives to practise in the same high court where the judges were posted was against judicial propriety and ethics. He said the list compiled on the basis of information received from the state bar councils had been sent to Union Law Minister Arun Jaitely with a request to take steps for transferring such judges. As per the information received from the state bar councils, out of 499 high court judges, relatives of 131 had been allowed to practise in the court of their posting, the BCI leader said.
The above report about corruption in Indian High courts gives credence to scuttlebutt in the legal circles that a lawyer relative of Justice Ms. Ruma Pal (who is hearing SYL canal case in the Indian Supreme Court and she is the one who did the original mischief two years ago on the SYL issue) has been engaged by the Haryana State government for 'legal advice' on its SYL canal suite against Punjab in the Indian Supreme Court. We urge all patriotic Sikhs to take note of the SYL conspiracy, and forget our petty differences and join together as one to defend the Homeland and the future of our children, their children and their children. We all should force Captain Amrinder Singh, who unfortunately at this point in time happens to be the Punjab Chief minister, to forget the whiskey bottle and think of the Panth for once and pay attention to what is going on in the Indian Supreme Court on the SYL issue and do something before it is too late.
