The following KHALISTAN CALLING newsletter has been
published in the leading Punjabi-English newspaper of the Sikh diaspora, Surrey
Canada-based CHARHDI KALA, (Issue of April 4-10, 2001 : Vol. 17 ; No.
14). It was also published in the first week of April in the Vancouver-based
PUNJAB GUARDIAN, Toronto-based SANJH SAVERA, Calgary-based SIKH VIRSA
and numerous other Punjabi/English weekly and monthly publications which cater
to the three million strong Sikh diaspora in Europe, Africa, Asia and
Australia. The Overseas Sikhs, unlike their 19 million compatriots captive in
India, are free and prosperous and they are determined - as they believe it is
their destiny and pray for it every day; Raj Karay Ga Khalsa; Sikhs will
rule - to carve a sovereign, democratic, egalitarian Sikh buffer state of KHALISTAN
in South Asia, stretching from the Jumna river on the East to the
Pakistan border on the West, China on the Northeast and Kashmir on the North.

Washington DC: April 04, 2001: It
is in American interest, as well as in the interest of over one thousand four
hundred million - nearly one & 1/2 billion - South Asians living in squalor
(South Asia's annual gross per capita GNP hovers under $. 400/ - yes $. 400/ -
as compared to nearly $. 30, 000 in most Western countries and places like
Singapore) that the South Asian nuclear jinnis be put back into the
bottle as quickly as possible.
2. We Sikhs strongly urge you
Sir, to act tough when smooth-talking Indian Foreign minister Jaswant Singh comes a calling on Friday April 6,
2001, on issues of nuclear proliferation and removal of US economic sanctions
just like the Saudis did last January when this 'Rajasthani Mughal/Royal'
Jaswant Singh visited them in Saudi Arabia - see Khalistan Calling of
January 23, 2001 http://www.khalistan-affairs.org/main/k_calling/kc01232001.htm
3. It was Mr. Jaswant Singh,
often called an evil Indian Raputin with a phony British accent, who
convinced the half-educated, inferiority-complex-ridden, Hindi-speaking,
Hindu-fundamentalist, Swastika-worshipping BJP ruling coterie to order the
nuclear blasts in May of 1998. He was the one who argued that Pakistan's
nuclear programme was a bluff and that like Aladdin (of the Arabian
Nights fairy tale) India would be able to call up the nuclear jinni
at will which will enable Delhi to not only dominate the weaker countries of
the South Asian subcontinent but the restive sub-nations held captive in the
Indian map as well. Among these 'nations' is the 22 million strong egalitarian,
prosperous and muscular, Sikh nation with its homeland of Punjab, Khalistan
captive in the Indian 'union' since the Colonial British fled South Asia in
1947.
4. For your information Sir, the
ill-advised Jaswant Singh theory that a nuclear-armed India would be welcomed
by other nuclear powers at the United Nations was trashed last year by none
other than the respected Indian Nobel laureate Professor Amartya Sen, who while
delivering the first Dorothy Hodgkin lecture in Cambridge, England said (Times
of India - August 13, 2000 issue) that: "the Indian bomb had failed to
deliver the anticipated strategic benefits and carried very large human and
economic costs. " Professor Amartya Sen told the 50th Pugwash Conference
in Cambridge in his Dorothy Hodgkin lecture that; "resenting the
obtuseness of the established nuclear powers is not a good ground for India to
shoot itself in the foot." He further added that; "It could not be
claimed that India benefited from the 1998 nuclear blasts of Pokharan-11, not
to mention the well being of the people, even the strategic goals of the
government of India have NOT been well served. Making nuclear bombs, not to
mention deploying them, and spending scarce resources on missiles and what is
euphemistically called delivery, can hardly be seen as sensible policy. And
there were sacrifices involved in terms of public expenditure for human well
being. However, ultimately the argument against nuclearization was not
primarily an economic one. The biggest penalty was the increased insecurity of
human lives in the (South Asian) subcontinent. The people whose lives are made
insecure as a result of these (nuclear and missile) adventures are primarily
the residents of South Asia themselves."
5. India's Nobel laureate
Professor Amartya Sen is absolutely correct as feuding Hindu India and Muslim
Pakistan, with nuclear weapons, translates into a grave situation not only for
the 22 million strong Sikh nation - 19 million captive in India and 3 million
free and prosperous in the diaspora of which half a million live in the United
States - but also for the numerous irreplaceable Sikh holy shrines located in
the Sikh homeland of Punjab, Khalistan, which stretches from the Jumna
river on the East to the Pakistan border on the West. Sandwitched as it is
between India and Pakistan Punjab, Khalistan, will surely be targeted in
any future Indo-Pakistan nuclear war as it was in the past Indo/Pak wars when it was made into a
battlefield. Success of the CTBT/NPT and Nuclear proliferation into South Asia
have therefore become, matters of life and death for every Sikh, which
sentiment of a South Asian community (nation) is rather unique in the world. It
runs parallel - please note - with American interests on nuclear non-proliferation in South
Asia.
6. We Sikhs therefore
respectfully urge you Sir, that even if the US has not ratified the CTBT and
NPT the Bush Administration should make sure that India is not allowed to
procrastinate on the two nuclear treaties - the CTBT (Comprehensive Test Ban
Treaty) and the NPT (Nuclear Proliferation Treaty). The US administration
should also resist the temptation of playing 'Divide and rule' in South Asia on
matters Nuclear. The US State Department should firmly use all the levers in
hand to walk India and Pakistan with their squalor and poverty (in India for
example 700 million Indians lack latrines; half its population, numbering
nearly 500 million, is illiterate; 200 hundred million are bonded slaves; and
nearly four million are HIV positive) back to the CTBT/NPT signing mode, from
the disastrous nuclear jingoist path the Hindu-Fundamentalist BJP coalition
government has been following since India's stupid May 1998 nuclear tests at
Pokharan in the Sikh homeland's backyard.
7. Last but not the least Sir, US
policy makers should also support the genuine political aspirations of the
Sikhs for a democratic independent sovereign buffer state of Khalistan
in a nuclear-free South Asia which would put an end to the India/Pakistan feuds
and would bring economic prosperity to the region including land-locked Central
Asia. An independent sovereign Khalistan would also be an answer to the
daily Sikh prayer Raj Karay Ga Khalsa (Sikhs will rule) which every Sikh
has been reciting openly every day, in every Sikh Gurdwara (Sikh Church) even
in India, for the past half a century. Khalistan Zindabad (Long Live
Khalistan).
Respectfully
American Sikhs
PS: a) In a statistical chutzpah,
the like of which this world has never seen, India's nuclear-armed
Brahmin-fundamentalist Swastika-worshipping rulers have put the infamous German
Nazi propaganda minister, Dr. Goebbells to shame. They have announced that
India's Census Commissioner http://www.censusindia.net/results/statedata.html
has discovered (that unlike every Indian census since independence in 1947,
where the number of literates could not keep pace with the growth of
population) the 2001 Indian Census has revealed that literate persons in India
now total 566, 714, 995 (yes nearly five hundred sixty seven million literates
in 2001) as compared to 359, 284, 417 literates found by the 1991 census, (see http://www.censusindia.net/cendat/datatable16.html)
an INCREASE of 207, 430, 578 literates (yes
two hundred and seven million, four hundred and thirty thousand, five hundred
and seventy eight) in the short span of a decade. Some census! Some increase! Some shameless
audacity! Some delusion! Some Indian 'democracy'!
b) Please also see the Khalistan
Calling of March 13, 2001 which exposed and ridiculed the lies in the
Indian government publication; "The Economic Survey 2000-01,"
which falsely claimed that Indian-held Kashmir is the most prosperous state in
India. http://www.khalistan-affairs.org/main/k_calling/kc03072001.htm
Some Economic Survey!
